Detailed Itinerary
If you are staying outside of the Old Quarter, our guide will meet you at our appointment rather than at your hotel in Hanoi. Start the walking food tour by taking in the delicious aromas emanating from the street hawker stalls selling anything from seafood to exotic fruits. You will hear tales from our guide about the ingredients and background of Hanoi’s culinary tradition and regional specialties from northern Vietnam.
Continue to walk through the Old Quarter of Hanoi, try some fruit and street snacks, and stop by some renowned and specialized food families or stalls, tiny local restaurants run by real local chefs. You will undoubtedly watch the chefs at work and taste some specific dishes (of your choosing or ones we recommend). On request, vegetarian cuisine or other dietary needs are provided.
Try the regional speciality of fresh fruit served in a cup with crushed ice and condensed milk, the local favourite egg coffee, or perhaps a chilled beer at a corner café (a tucked-away cafe) near Hoan Kiem lake with breathtaking views if you want to add something sweet to the menu. Your cuisine tour comes to an end at this point, so you may either explore further on your own, take a cab, or ask our guide to point you in the direction of your hotel.
That’s good to know
Our advice is to taste a little of each place’s food before moving on to another, but you can order food from as many stalls and restaurants as you want on this street food tour.
We guarantee that the food is handled hygienically and offer a welcoming environment for tasting.
It can be challenging to decide which of the many food stalls in this neighbourhood are worth eating at. There are undoubtedly some places you shouldn’t go, but we are confident that we have thoroughly checked out the locations you visit, allowing you to enjoy amazing regional specialties.
